Daewoo (Korean for "Great Universe") or the Daewoo Group was a major South Korean chaebol (conglomerate). It was founded on 22 March 1967 as Daewoo Industrial and was dismantled by the Korean government in 1999. Prior to the Asian Financial Crisis of 1998, Daewoo was the second largest conglomerate in Korea after Hyundai Group, followed by LG Group and Samsung Group. There were about 20 divisions under the Daewoo Group, some of which survive today as independent companies.

- Daewoo Motor, the motor vehicles division (sub-branch Daewoo Automotive Components Co. Ltd., Daewoo Bus Co., Ltd., Daewoo Commercial Vehicle Co. Ltd.)
- Daewoo Motor Sales, an auto sales company selling Daewoo but also GM cars and others in Korea (Sub-branch : Architectural Iaan Div., SAA-Seoul Auto Auction)
- Daewoo Electronics, a strong force both internationally and in Korea (sub-branch Daewoo Electronic Components Co. Ltd, Daewoo Electric Motor Industries Ltd., Orion Electric Co. Ltd.)
- Daewoo Precision Industries
- Daewoo Textile Co. Ltd.
- Daewoo Heavy Industries (DHI), which created heavy duty machinery
- Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering produced containerships, oil tankers and planes. It spun off in 2000 and became an independent company, DSME, re-listing on the Korean stockmarket in 2001
- Daewoo Securities, a financial securities company
- Daewoo Telecom Ltd., which concentrated on the telecommunications (sub-branch Daewoo Informations Systems Co. Ltd.)
- Daewoo Corporation, (sub-branch Daewoo Construction, Keangnam Enterprises) which built highways, dams and skyscrapers, especially in the Middle East and Africa
- Daewoo International, a trading organization
- Daewoo Development Co. Ltd., managing Daewoo hotels around the world and had the Hilton Hotels franchise in South Korea
- IAE (Institute for Advanced Engineering) : research and development integrated center
Sammi Daewoo Express Buses are designed and built with performance, comfort and safety in mind. Endeavored to improve the quality of life of it’s valuable passengers, it is a groundbreaker in the transport industry of Pakistan . The company has introduced innovative trends in road transport. On-board meals, efficient attendants, and punctuality, sum up Sammi Daewoo’s success. No doubt their services are commendable, staff are well-trained and helpful.
But with sixteen terminals in major cities of Pakistan and fifteen stopovers, Sammi Daewoo is having a hard time coping with the standards set up by Daewoo previously, owned by a Korean company. Sammi Daewoo got its start with the protection of Daewoo, but that support doesn’t exist anymore. Puntuality and regularity being their key feature can’t be seen anymore. Buses arrive and depart sometimes half an hour late. And it becomes a real menace when there is little parking space. At Lahore Daewoo station when a person goes to pick up passengers or drop them off, due to limited and unorganized parking area cars are sometimes parked outside the station, along the pavemants. It not only plays havoc on passenger’s mind but also is a root cause of traffic jam in that area.
A note to Sammi Daewoo Bus Service officials: Please look into this matter and fast. Because according to you,” The passengers are valuable to us, so as their time” really? Prove it!
